the next step.

i received my internship placement information yesterday, after waiting a mere 5 months. i'll be working at the international institute of boston, which, in their words:

The Institute provides newcomers with direct and practical assistance in the form of English & literacy courses, Refugee Resettlement services, Citizenship Education, Economic Development, Employment Training & Placement, Legal Aid and Social Services (e.g. crisis intervention, mental health counseling, human trafficking prevention).

and, more particular to me:

Volunteers and Interns are very active in all IIB programs. However, the majority of interns focus on supporting the efforts of our refugee resettlement and legal services, while our volunteers mainly serve as tutors for our Education Department and U.S. Citizenship Center.

that means i'll likely be working in refugee resettlement, which is something i'm really, really excited about.

and, if that weren't enough, here's the location:

in the heart of the city's financial district. and yes, that's boston common. to the right is the hah-bah.

i move in on saturday. tomorrow i pick up my last odds and ends before leaving home again.

i'm getting excited now.
